Sunbeams vänner = Sunbeams friends
Starting in 2024 the sailing ship Sunbeam offers voyages for international guests in the Stockholm archipelago in collaboration with Classic Sailing. Read more and search for voyages at https://classic-sailing.com/.
Kickoff with your company, painting course, sailtraining ,research project or a unique vacation with friends and family. The research vessel Sunbeam lets you explore the Swedish archipelago in many ways. Also Sunbeams Vänner organizes some open events. Information on those are found under ”Aktiviteter”.
The Sunbeams Vänner association serves as a contact point for persons and organisations interested in organising tours or research projects with the research vessel Sunbeam.
Sunbeam was originally built in Lowestoft, UK, as a sailing trawler. In the 1930’s she was sold to Sweden where she was equipped with an engine and served as fishing and cargo vessel. In 1962 she was bought by the “Uppsala Marine Botanical Mediterranean Expedition”. Ever since she has been used for environmental research, courses and leisure.
The ship can take up to 12 passengers or 20-22 trainees. There are bunks for 12-14 guests, but it is also possible to sleep in tents, hammocks on deck or in a hotel or guesthouse ashore. Facilities includes a well equipped kitchen, beds, WC, BBQ on deck. A small motor boat carried onboard may be used for transport, fishing and exploration of remote islands.
